Temple family of Whitechapel, London
Whilst researching my hisband's family tree I have come across something that is puzzling me.Julia Mary Temple b 1863 in Whitechapel was his Great Grandomther, one of 6 children (I think). Her father was James born 1833 in St George in the East, and mother Catherine Sullivan, I believe born in Ireland (this from the 1871 census). I found a marriage certificate for James and Catherine in 1853. This all seems to fit, but then I found another marrige certificate for James (I'm pretty sure it is the same person, father George, shoemaker, occupation tobacconist) to Mary Keefe in 1855, he is listed as widower, of course this could be OK but the 1861 census has him with Mary, the 1871 Census has him with Catherine, same children. I would think he married for the third time but I cannot find this. Also the only Catherine Sullivan I can find that fits seems to have been born in Ireland, although it is possible I haven't found her yet. Any suggestions? Do you have Julia or James on your tree? I'd be grateful for anything at the moment, i'm stumped.
