I am looking for the parents of John Terhune and Barbara Ann Paul, who are the parents of Martha Jane Terhhune (spouse of David Van Blaricom married in Cass County, Indiana in December 1865).
John and Barbara married in 1843 in Miami County Indiana. However, by 1850, John died. Barbara then remarried to David Repp in Cass County, Indiana.
According to an obitiuary of their son, Jacob Orris Repp, Barbara died in 1868, and David in 1870.
From what scant evidence I have found, Barbara was born in Virginia (according to census information given by Martha Jane Van Terhune Blaricom), possibly in Augusta County.
John Terhune was also supposedly born in Indiana (according to Martha's census information). But I also saw a reference the he was born in Scotland. I have been unable to locate him anywhere in the census at all.
In 1850, Marhta, 7 years old, is living with a Samuel Feinthorne and family in Miami County. Also living with them is a Sarah Paul (13 years old).
I have been stuck on Terhune and Paul for several years now, and I now some other researchers have been stuck on it as well. Barbara's name can also be spelled as Barbary Paul.
I have no burial information on Barbara, John, or David for that matter. These people have seemd to appear out of nowhere then disappear into nowhere.
They could all be buried in Miami county, but I have no evidence of that. I also have no idea as to how old they are at the time of marriage. According to the Indiana State Library Website database "Indiana Marriages through 1850," John and Barbara married on April 30, 1850 in Miami County.
Can anyone help provide more information on these people?
