Family Line BEFORE Albert Albertse Terhune

So I found this link that traced our lineage to Albert Albertse's Grandfather, a William Terhune.
I'm sure everyone around here already knows this, but to my knowledge at least from what I've been told we've only ever traced our lineage back to Albert Albertse Terhune starting with when he came to America. I've heard the "Terhune litterally meant 'from hunen'" with all the different spelling variations story plenty of times... but then if the name started then and there with Albert Albertse, how would he have come from someone else who already had the Terhune name?

I'm sure by bringing this up, I'm just stiring coals into fire.....
