Hi... thanks for your post of info.
The 2nd one you listed of info for Andrew Jackson Terrell is him. ("We have another (?) Andrew J. Terrell...")
He went by 'Jack'.
i have found a marriage license for:
John TERRELL & Sarah SUTHERLAND 27 Apr 1868 Lawrence Co IN Bk E Pg 135
Apparently she died by 1880 coz she's not listed on the census.
i dont' have a death index or have yet found her in a cemetery in Lawrence county. Most of the cemeteries on the Lawrence county site don't have links to who's in there...
i'm still trying to find where they were in 1870...hummmm
i'm confused by your statement "John Terrill (who you call Andrew Jackson Terrell)"
The info i posted is from what's been 'documented'.
Haven't found John & Sarah in the 1870 census.
'Jack' and wife are listed in the CA death records on-line.
Him being the son of John Terrell Jr is from the 1880 census.
On the 1880 Spice Valley Twp, Lawrence Co IN census is:
hoh John Terrell Jr 35 IN NC IN farmer
son Albion 11 IN IN IN works on farm
dau Mary L 9 IN IN IN
son Andrew J 6 IN IN IN
i listed the 1900 census - Jack is in Cuba in the service.
1910 - haven't found him anywhere
1920 he's in San Diego California.
1900 his father is listed as John E Terrell b JUL 1844 IN IN IN listed as Widow and a farmer;
with him is dau Mary L Toliver b MAY 1872 IN IN IN and her family: husband Grant b SEP 1867 and children listed:
Dora E b FEB 1890
Willie E b JUN 1893
Ralph A b MAY 1896
Celia C b SEP 1889
the other son of John: Albin Terrell is listed b NOV 1869 and living a few houses away with the Dorsett family
Jack and Hettie are buried in the Naval Cem in San Diego.
Seems most of the Terrell's in Lawrence county are related.
Hope this clarifies my previous post. Thanks again!
