Sara,

My great-grandfather and my grandfather were born Tessier's. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan in the early 1900's and I don't know whether the name change occured prior to the move or after. Our family story is that the name change occured due to a falling out with the Catholic church and the family was excommunicated. A name change was the only way they could get back in. All my great aunts and uncles, except one, George, changed their name to Casey. I am still looking for any siblings of my great-grandfather who may have moved to the U.S. from Ontario, Canada. Where they were prior to Peterborough, Ontario, I have no idea.
