The parish register identifies his parents as Jacques Tessier and Catherine Hamelin of "Duval evechie du Mans dans la Nouvelle France." I believe the reference to Nouvelle France is in error. Tanguay states that Mathurin Tessier is Jacques' father, but I cannot find any other evidence to corroborate this allegation. Does anyone know about the Jacques Tessier of which I speak?
