Tessier Family Genealogy Forum
Helen I am very interested in your wonderful research you have written here. I am a relative of Urbain. You can see the huge paragraph I have written with some explanation farther down in an area that says "Tessier dit Lavigne" so I'm not repeating and breaking rules. I have to dig out my Geneological Listing yet again and I'd love to keep on working together with you.
I dream of making a trip to Montreal - especially to speak to Mohawk - I have had my mother, myself checked out by Vancouver Metis Association as bona fide "metis" based on the Geneologial Listing that I provided them with, which I did have of the research and a 2nd cousin of mine in Lethbridge, AB who was taking aboriginal law at the time did the other half. My Mom is from the Cunningham (Leo Chester Cunningham (her grandfather) and John Harold Cunningham (my mother' father born /raised in Lethbridge, AB and now deceased)). My Grandfather's sister is still living but is older and so trying to keep in close contact with her and she has lots to say about their growing up in Lethbridge, AB Canada and the horrible time they were given for their coloring is much darker skinned than myself and my daughter even and so they used to go through lots of abuse apparently for being aboriginal. I know that I've gone through lots of abuse locally here within both Aboriginal and Metis being told foolish things like, only the Cree count. I've been told by some folk I've met here who lived and still have family in Montreal, that they are very familiar with the Urbain Tessier dit Lavigne story and have confirmed just verbally that yes one of his female in the lineage married a Mohawk Chief's son as my grandfather told me etc. Please, please stay in contact with me and let's continue this fabulous journey.
