Hello everyone who has written something in this section on the land grant.
I am a relative of Urbain as well, but much farther down the line.
Yes, it was the Notre Dame Cathedral.
My relation to Urbain is on my maternal side.
When I contacted my maternal grandfather in 1999 to ask for what he had of our family geneology, I was told of how his father, Leo Chester Cunningham, had been foremostly raised by a Great Aunt who was living in the Cathedral. When she started to die, she phoned my Gt. Grandfather Leo, who was living in Vancouver,BC at the time and begged him to come to get whatever papers she had to do with Urbain's family's ownership of that land - their portion. Apparently, when my Gt. Grandfather arrived, she had passed on and yes it is true that a Nun had taken the paperwork an handed it in to some "head" person a the Cathedral to do with Catholic faith which runs that. I wanted to know so badly that one time years ago now, I phoned Notre Dame Cathedral and I talked to one of the Nuns who told me that yes this is true what I was told of my Gt. Grandfather arriving and he paperwork being taken etc. I was also told that if I ever made it down there, I would be lovingly given a very personal showing of parts of the Notre Dame Cathedral that the public and public tours never get to see - I had to of course, have my family geneology papers with me.
Other than that, all that is read of a Lawyer and a Catholic priest getting together and placing ads in newspapers all across Canada asking for relatives of Urbain and how each relative was charged a monetary fee to be registered as a possile family member to recieve monetary payment from this is true. This was a timely hoax by two wicked men who knew the financial crash was coming and they basically stole all of the fees the many contacts had paid and so they did financially well for themselves right at the time of the financial crash - but thier souls - well that's the Creator's item to deal with.
I state this to you in all honesty. I would love to stay in contact if at all possible. You will see other statements of mine I have made this date in other areas and I hope that I can quickly find my box where I have my geneological listings and give them to you all so we can all see maybe where we fit to each other. I'm here 20 years now in Penticton, BC Canada, and long to make a trip one day to Montreal so that I can walk the street named after Urbain and visit Old Montreal etc. etc.
