Joseph Tessier-dit-Lavigne

Help me please. I have Joseph Tessier-dit-Lavigne, s/o Jean Tessier-dit-Lavigne and Louise Petit. Joseph married Sophronie Valliere, presumably by a JP about 1856, somewhere in the U.S., and then the marriage was rehabilitated (blessed) by the Catholic Church 4 years later, according to the marriage record, at St-Michel, Sherbrooke, P.Q. on 9/23/1860. My main question at this time is, does anyone know where in the U.S. that original marriage took place? I am also trying to find their children, but have had no luck there either. Anyone know these people? Any help greatly appreciated, thank you.
