Aloha Jan,
No way will I accept the title "keeper of all things Tessier". But I do have an answer for you. Jette's great dictionary has Rene DAUPHIN (s/o Rene & Suzanne GIGNARD) m. 2 May 1719 at Beauport to Marie-Angelique TESSIER (d/o Mathieu & Marguerite CARREAU). Mathieu TESSIER or ERINGUE dit LAPLANTE (s/o Jacques & Laurence BOIGEOU) came from Gognac-le-Froid, Dictrict of Rochechouart, diocese of Limoges, ancient Province of Limousin (Department of Haute-Vienne today.) He was a soldier with the Bouraillan Company. (This company was not part of the famous Carignan Regiment.) Mathieu married Marguerite CARREAU (widow of Louis PREVOST and d/o Louis & Jeanne LEROUGE)25 Nov 1687 at Beauport.
I emphasize that this Mathieu TESSIER is not a descendant of either Urbain or Mathurin.
Best, Jerry
