Aloha Jan,
Chill factor here is 81*. Suffer!!!
According to Jette and Tanguay, your first couple, Paul & Marie, never came to Canada. I'm dumb on France genealogy. Their son Michel was born in Alencon (lace capital) about 1611 and m. Madeleine Roussin at Quebec in 1651. Kind of an old duffer to get married but he and Maddy were still making babies as late as 1668. My wife is a descendant of the Michel & Madeleine. I am quite certain that Jette and Tanguay would not have confused Vavassuer with Levasseur or Vasseur so presume that the names are not the same.
Neither Jette not Tanguay show a Metivier-Fortin marriage in the 1706 time frame. Are you sure of your info here???
Best, Jerry
