Aloha Jan,
Got back last night from four delightful weeks in France with my family. I have some stuff on Riel. E-mail me or post here on the years that you are interested in. The first Riel in Canada was from St. Peter's parish in Limerick, Ireland. He came over as early as 1700, was a soldier. His name was Jean-Baptiste Riel dit Lirlande (of Ireland). So if you have some Riel in your line and your body craves green beer on St Patty's day, you now know why. Best, Jerry Lesperance
