Hi cousin Charlie,
Hope all's well with your search. I descend from Jean-Baptiste's sister and Veronica's brother. The most comprehensive resources I have show that J/B and Veronica did indeed have a son named Joseph. But he married a woman named Marie Papillon. They lived with the rest of their sibs (both sides were heavily intermarried) through the 1850s in "Frenchtown" (Goderich/St. Joseph) Ontario. They are documented as moving to Windsor-across the river from Detroit-in 1866. So it would be hard to imagine he's the same bridegroom in Chicago, 1861.

How far have you gotten with Cook County and St. Joe County records? Is there any sign of where they married? If it's in either town, I'd be glad to go down and pull the records for you (St Joe's not far from Chicago.) If there's any evidence of them living in Chicago or Cook County, I'd also be glad to pull the city directories and see where they lived and if there's more info to be found.

You've piqued the curiosity and I'd love to see how this plays out.

Jan
