I just found out my ggggggf Joseph Lavigne b1775 Montreal was the son of Jean-Baptiste Tessier Lavigne. I've since traced this line back to Urbain Tessier dit Lavigne. His father, Arthur Arbus Tessier did not have a Lavigne as a dit name. How did the name Lavigne become associated with Tessier? Does anyone have a good source of history about the early Tessiers?
