According to Thomas Laforest's "Our French-Canadian Ancestors", in 1660, Mathurin Tessier and Hilaire Charonnest bought land on the Beaupre coast. In 1663 the land passed to Pasquier Nony dit Larose and in 1667 it served as the location of the first church of L'Ange Gardien.
I suspect that your story is a variation of the above. L'Ange Gardien is about 8 or 10 miles upstream (west)from Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre where the famous cathedral of the same name is located. I have visited both locations several times.
