Dear Fred, I do not know for sure but there may be a possibility that Francois and Marie do connect to my line. Do you know if Francois was a Francois Xavier? I cannot find any parents for my gggrandfather who was known as Michael Casey. Family tradition has it that he was somehow connected to the Tessier group. The family in 1930 were actively involved in proving they were connected to the group pursuing the lawsuit. It has been stated that he was born at sea in August of 1840. A daughter stated that the "at sea" was in the US. All census records show him to be French Canadian. I am currently going through church records of Quebec and Northern New York to see if there are any Tessier/Caseys in the midst. So far it is zero but I have a few more to go. I have rather a gut feeling that they either came into New York and/or went to Michigan and then came back to Buffalo where Michael married in 1860, served in the Civil War albeit briefly and worked as a ship's carpenter/calker. I rather think that the Francois you mentioned might have married more than once. Have you come across a Susan Girard as a possible spouse? Do you know where Francois died? I have reason to believe that the Francois who may be my connection died in Chicago but as for a year I have not a clue. This group is truly my brick wall. In large part due to the name change. If you have any thoughts or suggestions I am most willing to pursue them. Thanks for your input. Sara Burkholder
