Elizabeth's last name is LETOURNEAU, not LATOURNEAU. She is the daughter of David LETOURNEAU & Jeanne BARIL. Chateau- Richer is between Quebec and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupry on the northern shore of the St. Lawrence River.
Mathurin said he was from Ste-Ausonne parish in the city of Angouleme in the southwest part of France. He was born about 1640/1641. His parents did not come to France. The foremost expert on Mathurin is G. Robert TESSIER who is an occasional contributer to this forum. G. Robert searched, and had local experts search, for a record of Mathurin and his parents in and near Angouleme without success. We have only Mathurin's word in various Canadian records that Thomas and Elisabeth POIRIER were hs parents and that he was from Angouleme.
