In Reply to: TESSIERS/REVOLUTIONARY WAR by Sara Burkholder of 1317

Hey Sara, you're really having fun now! Hazen created a company that was part "American" (i.e. colonists) and part French-Canadian. Their big battle was Brandywine, where they were chewed up and suffered many casualties. During the battle, the Hessians decimated them because of a bad scouting report which left them open to a sneak attack.

For a really good understanding not only of the battle and the war itself, but also of the soldiers, see if you can get a copy of the legacy reports of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A good research library will have them and the LDS is able to order many of the holdings. Their website is kind of fun to go through (though tedious at times). If you are a descendent of one of the soldiers and can prove it, then you're also able to join the DAR.
