Besides, I told you that I thought that he was not from Saint-Jean de Montaigu but most llikely from the village of Saint-George de Montaigu.
I think I am completely wrong. There is a Saint-Jean-Baptite parish in Montaigu as the following quote found on another web-site indicates:
"Jean Brochu, fils de Louis Brochu, marchand, et de Louise Guichet, naquit à Montaigu (Vendée) le 27 décembre 1640. Son baptême fut célébré dans l'église paroissiale de Saint-Jean-Baptiste le même jour" ("eglise paroissiale" means "parish church").

It is also interesting to find another guy from the village of Montaigu being in the pioneers list.
