I am related to George Shoults (Schultz) and Victoire Tesson through their son John Baptiste Shoults. Vitoire's parent was Louis Tesson dit Honore. I am researching their lines. It sounds like there is a lot of genealogy already in place. Any recommendation on where the best source might be to bring me up to speed? I live in St. Louis and have access to many of the family church data recordings from Old Cathedral and St. Mary & Joseph Parish (Carondolet area).

Early (~1800)signatures by family indicate spelling of Shoults or Shoultz, later anglicized to Schultz or similar. Does anyone know where Shoults came from? He married into a very tight French community in St. Louis in 1797. Would expect a source in France, but name sounds German.
