MY INFO ON MARY CATHERINE TETER CAME FROM A LETTER FROM A DESCENDENT OF PHILLIP TETER AND SUSANNAH HENKLE, WITH NO REFERENCES, SO COULD BE WRONG.
DO YOU LIST SAMUEL GIBSON TETER ANYPLACE? HE IS MY ANCESTOR. HE MARRIED MARY DODDRIDGE. CAPT SAMUEL IS CHILD #10, ACCORDING TO RESEARCH DONE 35+ YEARS AGO.
THIS SOURCE ALSO STATES THAT
"TWO BROTHERS (SOME RECORDS SAY THERE WERE THREE BROHTERS)GEORGE AND jACOB dIETERICK AND FRIEND OR RELATIVE, A VON HINKLE, CAME OVER FROM SCHLUSING, HOLSTEIN, GERMANY TO PHILADELPHIA. GEORGE'S WIFE, MARGARET LUDMAN OR LUDLOW CAME WITH THEM. VON HINKLE WAS A MINISTER OF THE GERMAN LUTHERAN CHURCH. IT IS SAID THAT HE ESTABLISHED THAT CHURCH IN AMERICA. GEORGE AND JACOB FIRST CHANGED TEHIR NAME TO DIETER AND POSSIBLY A CENSUS TAKER CHANGED IT TO TETER.
GEORGE TETER SETTLED IN PA. LATER WENT TO THE YODKIN VALLEY IN NORTH CAROLINA. HE HAD A FAMILY OF15 CHILDREN. HIS 10TH SON WAS CAPT. SAMUEL GIBSON TETER."
OF COURSE, THERE ARE NO REFERENCES LISTED, ALTHOUGH THE AUTHOR, DOLLY BOTTEN, DID LIST MANY REFERENCE SOURCES WITH CAPT. SAMUEL GIBSON TETER.
THERE IS ANOTHER PARAGRAPH WHICH I WILL TRANSCRIBE LATER.
ANY LIGHT THAT YOU CAN SHED ESP. ON SAMUEL GIBSON TETER WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
I THOUGHT HE WAS THE SON OF THE ILLUSTROUS JOHANN GEORG TETER.
THANK YOU,
CAROL BENNETT
