Thanks Jan for replying. My grandfather-in-law was Samuel E Teter, born Mar 1851, Colorado, the son of Wilson E, born Mar 1851, Iowa, the son of Samuel E, born May 1817, Ohio, who lived most of his adult life in Marion Co. Iowa. The 1900 census lists his father being born in Penn. and his mother in Kentucky. The family story is that they came here from Ireland. I am currently using John Teter and Mary Hare Edmiston as his parents and I have not gone any further back than them. I don't like to rely on posted trees because of the errors that I have found in my searches. Any help is appreciated. Harold
