1802 JKSN TN TAX TAX JACKSON CO. 1802 TAX LIST, CAPT BENJAMIN TOTTON'S DIST.; 1 WP, 1 BP [DOB101 TXtxbTN] .

This above document should clear this family aurgument once and for all. Benjamin Totten jr is listed as private 1812 and 1813 in the Tn Militia. Therfore he was not Capt Totten. It also shows that Benjamin Totton was not murdered in 1796 which is nothing more than a family myth or legend made along the way by my elder auniies and uncles.
It also proves that the wife of Benjamin Totton Ester and the wife of George Teater could not have married a Griffith then George Teater. the reason is she was not a widow until after the above date. It is a fact that[ a George Teater ]did marry a Esther Griffith in 1796 but she was not the wife of Benajamin Totten becuse he was well and alive living right here in Jackson Tenn with Jonas Griffith the father inlaw of Sarah Teater who was the wife of Jonas son Samuel Griffith REGARDS
