I have viewed the new Southwest Virginia Project Site which cover these topics. Documents of George Teater. I have some actuall facts sent there which I can offer the Teters who are unaware. Part of my corrections can be viewed here for the Teter family.
George Teater Sr and his son Samuel migrated to Kentucky 1779. He left his family behind in Washington Co Virginia.

heres the proof.

1783 Washington Co Survey. page 111 Feb 4 1783 John Carson Assignee of George Teater Assignee of Jermiah Hatfield.

Virginia land Office Book 1 13 Jan 1784 Bellsfelt Peter granted 380 acres on bend of Dicks River. West side of said river adjoing George Teator.

Washington Co Survey Bakers Creek waters of the Middle fork of Holston actuall settlment 1770 assgned to John Porterfield signed George Tetor march 8 1785 ARRON LEWIS. Witness. Madison KY Marraige Book George Tetter = Jr married Mary Van Cleave a niece of Daniel and Squire Boone May 28 1788.

1810 Garrard census shows Moses Riddle Indian Melungeon Reserched person, near George Teater Jr and George Teater Sr. 30 Dec 1821 George Teater Jr married Polly Riddle.

Capt James Downing Company 24 Oct to 24 Nov 1782 James Downing Capt Benjamin Cooper Lieut. Pvt Samuel Teater. Frankfort Historical Society. Jan 1834 Pension Office War Dept recieved Sworn Statement sent from Howard Co. Mo by Samuel Teeter confirming service in the Indian Wars Ohio 1782 1783 for Benjamin Cooper. War Dept approved annual pension of $ 320 per year, based upon statement of Samuel Teeter of Howard Co Mo. 1860 Census Garrard Kentucky Parris Teater place of birth Virginia 1780

Based upon the above documented facts George Teater did leave his family back in Washington Co Virginia and lived only with his son Samuel Teater in kentucky makeing periodic trips back to Virginia to visit family. His son George Teater Jr is noted there on Assignee of deed 1783. His son Parris born Virginia 1780 The records of Samuel Teaters service in Kentucky, Dicks river Deed is where Boyle KY is today. George Teater then shows 1787 Madison tax list living only with 4 Negro slaves.
