In the spring of 1797 a large migration traveled from Hardy CO VA (since 1863 a part of WVA, important to know for research purposes) to Southern Illinois, led by my 5th great-grandfather Reverend David BADGLEY. Among these travelers were members of the TETER family including the following:

Rebecca (Henckel) Teter, matriarch of her family and widow of Captain George Teter, a veteran of the Revolutionary War b 1730 son of Hans Michael Teter. Rebecca b 1736, d 1797 in an epidemic that greeted the travelers when they arrived in Illinois.

John Teter, Rebecca's nephew and son of Phillip Teter (Paul's brother, married to Rebecca's sister Susannah Henckel).

Ursula (Hoffman) Teter, John's wife. Her father was Christopher Hoffman of Hardy CO VA.

Abraham Teter, son of Rebecca Teter.

Mary (Kittle) Teter, Abraham's wife.

Joshua Teter b 1797, son of Abraham and Mary Teter.

Abigail Teter, b ca 1790, daughter of Abraham and Mary Teter, d 1797 in epidemic with her grandmother Rebecca.

Mary Redmon, widow of Rebecca's son George Teter and now married to her second husband Samuel Redmon.

Samuel Redmon, second husband of Rebecca's daughter-in-law Mary (Teter) Redmon and a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

Elizabeth Teter, daughter of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL she later married Jacob Ogle.

Philip Teter, son of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL he later married Rebeckah Robinson.

Sarah Teter, daughter of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL she later married James Scott.

Barbara Teter, daughter of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George
Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL she later married William Larkin Rutherford.

Solomon Teter, son of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL he later married Priscilla Badgley.

Rebecca Teter, daughter of Mary (Teter) Redmon and George Teter, stepdaughter of Samuel Redmon. In IL she later married David Badgley JR.

Mary (Teter) Davis, daughter of Rebecca Teter. Her first husband was Theophilus Davis m 1791 Pendleton CO VA. Her later second husband was Edward Radcliffe, who also traveled with the group with his sons.

Theophilus Davis, husband of Mary (Teter) Davis.

Mary (Hoffman) Miller, sister of Ursula (Hoffman) Teter. Mary and William Miller were married Feb 9, 1796, Hardy CO VA.

William Miller, husband of Mary (Hoffman) Miller.

Hannah (Teter) Mitchell, daughter of Rebecca Teter and wife of Peter Mitchell.

Peter Mitchell, husband of Hannah (Teter) Mitchell.

Barbara (Teter) Shook, daughter of Rebecca Teter and wife of Jacob Shook.
