TETZLAFF - Meaning of name!
Posted by: Sharon Buethner Date: June 30, 1999 at 13:34:24

Hi,

A few years ago, I recieved the meaning of the name TETZLAFF, and thought others may be interested, as well.

Tetzlaff comes from the name Tetzel. The form Tetzlaff is from Pomerania. The suffix -laff is a "Wendish" surname suffix. The Wends were Slavic people occupying eastern Germany to the Baltic Sea during the early medieval period and now survive along the middle and upper Spree River.

I believe this info came from a German lexicon (name) book, but I do not have the name of it.
