I am very sorry that I missed your query. If you still want to know: the Solomon Tevebaugh you read about was NOT Dutch nor born in South Africa. That was a tale popular in the early 1900s among members of the Indiana Branch of the family; it probably can be traced to my grandfather's brother. He may have made it up "out of whole cloth" as they used to say. This Solomon (there were many) was born in what now is SW PA, in the Monongahela River Valley, then claimed very strongly by VA. He came to what is now IN with his father, Jacob, and family about 1783/4, by way of KY.
