Revoluionary War Soldier Thomas Tewksbury

There is a great article in "Downeast Ancestry" on the Revolutionary War Soldier Thomas Tewksbury/Tukesbury.

The article is in Volume 10 Number 1 Page 14

This Thomas was a resident of Atinson in the County of Penobscot and the State of Maine according to an application for a pension under the Act of Congress of 7th June 1832:

June 1833 appeared..Thomas Tukesbury, a resident of Atkinson in the County of Penobscot and the State Of Maine, aged seventy five years...he enlisted in the Army of the United States in the year 1777 with Captian Lovett and served in Col. Drakes's regiment of the New Hampshire Line or Troops under the following officers: viz. Lovett apt. and Drake, Col. in July 1777 he enlisted as a private for five months in that company and regiment...this period he served out and was verbally discharged at New Windsor above Weat Point in December 1777. That was the first of April 1778 he again elisted as a private for the onths in Capt. John Dodge's Company, in Col Jacob Gerrish's regiment of Guards..this period he fully served out at Cambridge in guarding the Hessian prisoners and was then verbally discharged at Cambridge the 6th of July 1778.....there is alot more info..........

Thomas Tewksbury was born 10 March 1758 in Newton or South Hampton, New Hampshire, the son of Thomas Tewksbury and Mary (Currier). He married Mary or Mollie Meloon, born 02 September 1760 in Deerfield, New Hampshire. Mary or Mollie was the daughter of Nathaniel and Mary (Norris) Meloon.

Thomas came to Atkinson in 1814 and was living there in 1833.

Children were:

Jonathan, born 22 June 1788 in Deerfield, NH; died in Atkinson, Me. He married 21 March 1810 in Candia, NH to Polly Leavitt. He had a number of children.

Samuel, born 24 November 1800

Johnson/Johnston born 02 oCTOBER 1794 married Mehitable Grove, Atkinson, intentions 06 December 1821. Mehitable's residence was given as as T2 R7, which appears to Milo, Maine. In Kilmarnock (Medford) in 1830 age 30-40.

Hezekiah, possibly the one in the 1840 census in Parkman, Maine

Possibly Thomas who was in Atkinson,Maine in 1810 with a family.

Possibly Nathaniel who was in Atkinson, Maine in 1810 with a family
