My branch of the Thackrah family were the woollen manufacturers of Pudsey. I am able to trace back to my gt. gt. gt. gt grandfather John Thackrah who married Mary Benn on 11.24.1766. I do not have dates of birth or death, but know his father was also called John. The name I believe originates with the Vikings. I have details of family links in various parts of the world, including Australia, USA, Canada, S.Africa, as well as many in Yorkshire ,London and Scotland if anyone wants to contact me.
