Eugenia's parents were:
Eliza Gardner & William Clendenin Miller m:3-6-1836 -
Cabell Co.,(W)Va...They had 7 children (names?)
Eliza's parents were:
Marie TC Raison (Mary) & Joseph Gardner m:St.Domingo/1798
I'm looking for a copy of the papers filed to compensate Marie TC Raison de la Geneste etal for damages to the French plantations in St. Domingo. Papers were filed in Cabell Co.,Va, by her husband, Joseph Gardner, then he gave power of atty to his son in law, when his health deteriorated..to Wm.Clendenin Miller, with Thomas Thornburg as suretor for $2k, as bond. Eugenia kept a journal which is in Huntington's Marshall Academy's archives, but the documents aren't recorded there. When the county seat of Cabell Co., was moved from Barboursville to Huntington, after the Civil War, the documents weren't preserved well. A descendant, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore, nee Gardner, is said to have copies..can't find anyone who knows how to contact her anymore...this info was in the geno files of Melissa Doolittle, from her research in the,1970's. Document info described as: Dated June 30, 1841, in Court Order Minute Book 4, Pg 427, Cabell Co. Permission for Joseph Gardner to file on the behalf of his wife and her family, against France and St.Dom, for restitution, was given 25th of June, 1825. With the lst lump-sum settlement, they built the lst frame house in Barboursville, Cabell, Va. She spent her allotments, mostly, on the local school & church & brought musical instruments and lively christian music to the town.
This was Eugenia Miller-Thackstone's Grandmother.
