John Thames b. 1770 - 1832 & Ann Reeves
John Thames was the son of Joseph & Martha (Newberry) Thames. Now, thanks to William C. Fields, we know the name of his wife and have a better feel for his date of marriage. Bill found the "Last Will and Testament" of Nathaniel Reeves. This will was written 17 March 1792. It names his heirs as Dicey McDaniel, Sarah Clark and Ann Thames. None of them have produced a child by this date. We know from the Stephen's Bible that John Thames wife was called Nancy. Ann is the diminitive for Nancy. Dicey produces a male by 9 May 1792 and names it for her father, Nathaniel.
Nathaniel Reeves then puts a codicil in the will 9 May 1792 saying his Plantation and the land he left to Dicey would be for her lifetime and then to her son Nathaniel upon her death.
John Thames and wife (Nancy) Ann Thames have their first child a son in 1796 and they name him Nathaniel.
The estate of Nathaniel Reeves was sold at public auction 1 July 1793. His will was admitted and recorded to Probate Court on 6 April 1854 (figure that one out).
