I have a copy of the marriage certificate when Daniel Thew of the town of Peru, NY and Betsey Lobdell, also of the town of Peru, NY were married. It is dated Feb. 1, 1849.
Daniel Thew, born March 11, 1792 in Peru, was married first on Jan. 26, 1814 to Electa Nichols. She died Aug. 31, 1842. Then he married Eunice Able Smith in 1844, and she died in 1848. His third marriage was to Betsey Lobdell (born Nov. 11, 1810 in VT.) in 1849. Daniel and Betsey had one daughter, Katie L. Thew, born Feb. 16,
1850. Referring to the Thew Graveyard in town of Peru, my information is that there are 12 stones. Names include: Lobdell, Smith and Thew. Rev. Jared Lobdell, died Aug. 28, 1846 at age 79 years. Betsey, wife of Rev. Jared Lobdell, died Nov. 8, 1858 in the 90th year of her age. There is a Helen M. Smith, born July 9, 1831, died April 16, 1891. Then there is Daniel Thew, March 11, 1792 to August 8, 1870. All 3 of his wives are buried there. Also 5 other Thew names, but no Katie. Fran
