A lot of convicts were sent out on minor sentances and eventualy settled here as the chance of return was slim. I also have seen a couple of Thomas Thew's that were born in a similar time one especialy was born 1832 so maybe I have it wrong. I have the ancestry cd's for arrivals ect. and our Thomas is not shown but remember 1854 records were destroyed in a fire so maybe his arrival will never be found.I will keep looking at this end.
PS. I may have found his death records. There are two records for his son Thomas Edward from his second marriage and the first one is most likely him, somtimes the transcribers make a mistake copying to data base.
