Thew's across the pond

Within the group of people who are doing research on the New York Thew's, I am wondering if anyone has ever contacted a genealogist type Thew across the Alantic and see if they have a missing John Thew who was born around 1705 and was a Seaman to Sea Captain type worker.

If not are there any England / Wales / Northern Europe people doing research on Thew's
