Heather,
My G-g-grandfather was John Thiel, (Born Jean Thil in Paris, France) he came to the US about 1870-1872 and was headed for Pittsburgh to work in the mines (they were mostly miners), however coming through imigration they chamged the spelling on his name and also thought he was trying to say Pittston (he spoke little English). They sent him to Pittston, PA, and the family settled in this region. It sounds possible that John may be a brother to you Henry, but again I have been at a dead end with trying to get info on my John Thiel (it seems to have been a very popular name both here and France/Germany!)
Margaret also seems to be a family name that was passed down. If anything sounds familiar, please feel free to e-mail me and we can swap notes!
Thanks,
Laura
