I have recently talked with my mother about some of our family history. My great-grandfather was from Trier, Germany. His name was John George Thielen. He married Augusta (Gruening)Greening from Pozen, Germany. They then moved to America where my grandfather and his sisters were raised in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area of Minnesota.

I know so far the Augusta's parents were Frederick Gruening and Amelia Flater. They came to Chaska, Mn, in 1889 I believe. But still trying to read papers and match dates.

Just starting to research my family history and actually "googled" the name Thielen when you came up. Most of the sites were in German and sadly I do not speak it.
