I am descended from a Johann Thieme, who migrated to the United States around the end of the 19th century. His daughter, Ida Camilla Thieme, was my father's grandmother. They lived in Nebraska and then in Toledo, Ohio.

I do not know the ancestry any farther back, except that they were from the erzgebirge south of Leipzig and Chemnitz in what used to be East Germany (Sachsen Anhalt).

It sounds like this may be a different Johann Thieme, but it is a long shot. I believe that he was a schoemaker by trade.
