I don't know how far you want to go back to trace relatives, but the Burtons and Thistlethwaites married each other for several generations in Dent in the 17th and 18th centuries. I have been able to find our Dent ancestors so I guess we are related. In addition the Sedgwicks are also closely related, I guess you wouldn't find many Dent surnames that aren't in the family tree if you go back far enough. Have a look at Carole Herbert's webpage if you haven't already, it gives a very picture of Dent society over the past 400 years.
Our branch of the Burtons/Thistlethwaites is in Australia.
If we can swap info I shall do my best to help.
Regards Crichton Leonard (from Leonard Sedgwick) Burton
