Hi. Lisa, Do you have a Fred W. Thistlewaite in your tree from Vanleek? I'm not researching this surname but have a book with his signature in it. I did a little research and found that there was a Fred Thistlewaite secretary to some council in Vanleek, Ontario. The book is first/second addition of Poetry by Paul Laurence Dunbar copyrighted 1896. At least if you have a Fred W. you now know what type of reading he did. The book was purchased at a second hand book store either in Toronto or Vancouver.
