I have been trying to research Mary Jane for many years, but have not been able to find anything prior to her marriage to Elias. I have nothing on Mary Janes parents, or siblings. Do you have this info? Any help would be appreciated. Liz

Hi Liz,

Actually, I have a digital reproduction of a picture of her mother. Here is the text of my Aunt Bella's comments accompanying the picture:

"Mary (Farnum) Thoms, husband was William?
Mother of Mary Jane (Thoms) Boyington
and Nathan Thoms brother of Mary Jane.
Picture was taken in Somerville, Mass. where she was probably visiting her daughter Ella."

"I saw Uncle Nathan who used to visit us. He was very slender and tall, with a white beard I thought he looked like Santa. He was so jolly and played with us children."

B. Larkin, Malden, Mass.

Mary Jane is reported to be from "Henderson, Maine." This appears to be a local name for some part of Jefferson, Maine. I have this clue only recently and have not been to Jefferson (about an hour from me) to find out what people know there about local place names.

I don't know if these references to Mary Jane's birth family members are of any help. If you should learn more, I'm sure there are many of us who would like to know! Keep us in your research loop, please.

Gene
Great grandson of Mary Jane through her son Harrison and his son Ralph.
