Samuel Thorowgood was born in Dagenham, Essex in 1813. He became master of the Cordwainers between 1881 and 1882. At about this time he was running a shoe making business in Brighton under the name of Dutton and Thorowgood. He eventually lived at Haywards Heath.
He married Augusta Sophia Dutton on 13 December 1836 at St Mary Newington, Surrey. Their Children were Samuel Thomas Dutton Thorowgood, born 1838, and Marriane. Samuel remarried later in life, but I have been unable to date trace the marriage or name. Children of this marriage were Theresa Sophia (1854)(married Russell Perry) Eliza Augusta, and Alice Minnie (b21 May 1858 - married Frederock Meadows Kemp 9 October 1890).
Two other Thorowgoods were admitted as apprentices to the Cordwainers in 1732 (Thomas), and (Robert) 1738. Very probably relations.
I'd be very pleased to hear from anyone who can identfy any of Samuel's other relatives, and in particular his second wife.
Thank you in advance.
