My ggrandfather is Walter Hayden Morton. His father is Lewis T. Morton. and his father is John Thomas Throckmorton

In my unlces(Walter Hayden Morton son) attic we came across an article from a newspaper. It is of a man Herbert A. Morton age 86. The heading under the picture reads

Herbert A. Morton, 86 recalls life with his father, John T. Morton who was a private in the Union Army during the Cival War.

Article reads:
Nicholas County native John T. Morton marched into battle during the Civil War 123 years ago weating the uniform of a private in the Union Army. This afternnon Morton's Youngest and last surving son will accept his fathers bronze medal of honor
Herbert A Morton, 86 lives near Fayetteville with his daughter. He is one of 65 people scheduled to receive medals at 3:30 pm ceremony served in state regiments during the Cival War.
I was only 14 when my father died, " Morton said in a soft, earnest voice. "But he was a good man, a good father. He provied for his family."
Morton's nephew, Robert E. Cruikshank of Marlington, has studied the family tree and filed the claim for John Morton's medal on behalf of his great uncle. Cruikshand has collected so much information about his family that he had tobuy a home computer to keep track of it all.
But the computer seem an anachrosim when Cruikshank discusses the life of John Morton, who became a Methodist minister in his later years and lived in Lizemores before it became a part of Clay County. HIs self-reliance was typical of mnay West Virgina Cival War veterens, Cruikshank said.
He could marry you, he could build your house, he could build you a chimney and he could grind your corn,"he said. "He was a dead shot with a rifle, he was quite a blacksmith, and when you died he could bury you and lay you in the ground.

There is more to the article looks to be written around 1963 or 64.
What i want to know is which John T this is Lewis brother John T or his father John Thomas Morton(Throckmorton)
I will gladly send both pieces of article to a family member and there is so much more we have found from the attic of my uncle that we have not even gone thru.
Mitzi
