THRUSH surname

I'm looking for any history on my great-great grandfather, Daniel Thrush. He was Native American and lived in New York, (Manhattan?). He had five children with a supposedly prominent white woman. (scandelous at the time) His wife also was a singer. he died early of possibly malaria or other disease while working on the panama canal.after his death, his wife put her children on the Orphan Train across the united states. (ashamed i suppose?) and my great-grandmother was adopted by a family in Southeast Nebraska. He was born in the 1800's and was in his 30's when he died. We think he was with a tribe in upstate New York, possibly of Sioux nation, possibly, but don't know for certain.i have hardly no information.i have found a relative here, i think my grandmother's sister, Patti Lutter.my grandmother's name is now Ellenora Besch, but was Ellenora Dorn(maiden)she knows just as much as i.please let me know if you can help or have any information at all. thanks, carol
