The U.S. federal censuses are taken on even years...that should be 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880. My guess is that Eva Tibbetts Bigelow's father will be a son of Allen Tibbets. McBride had to meet Harriet through someone that he knew. He was a ship's captain on the Great Lakes. There was a Tibbets involved in transportation lines. My guess is that was his link to meeting Harriet. Evidence seems to show that he had a prior wife who died and left him with a very young child. He needed a wife and found one far from his home, and not near a waterway. My guess is the newspaper in the Coldwater area will have run something on Harriet McBride dying in Erie. She was only 15 when they married, it desn't give many options for parents in Coldwater.

Perhaps there is no evidence that he was a Reverend, but how did the first person who posted in this thread come up with the name Rev. Allen Tibbets?
