If Sam was from Lancaster Co, I think it would be "safe" to assume he was from one of the Ticer families in the Colonial Virginia Abstracts. Edward and his children (along with William - father of Gabriel, Gideon, and Augustine) lived in Northumberland County, which was divided in the late 1600s to make Lancaster and Westmoreland Counties. There is actually a Sam "Taycor" born there in 1726. Could be a family name!
