Thanks for your post, Darrin. You've asked the million dollar Ticer question: Who are the parents of Hugh Clark & Louisa A. Ticer? Louisa is my gg-grandmother. She married my gg-grandfather Hezekiah Columbus Rorie. Hezekiah's sister, Sarah Caroline Rorie, married Louisa's brother, Hugh Clark Ticer. The children of Hugh Clark Ticer and Sarah Caroline Rorie were: John Monroe Ticer, Mary Jane Ticer, William Andrew Jackson "Bill" Ticer, Newton Absalom Josiah "Jody" Ticer (who was active in Oklahoma politics - his picture hangs in the state capitol in Oklahoma City), Martha Louisa Elizabeth Ticer, and Sarah Rebecca Ticer. To my knowledge these were the only offspring Hugh and Sarah had. Mary Jane Ticer died at the early age of 25 as a result of child birth complications. She married married Asa Bennett Lawrence in Stone Co, AR, 8 Oct 1878. Hezekiah and Louisa A. had seven children including my g-grandfather, Newton Monroe "Newt" Rorie, before Hezekiah's untimely death during the burning of Rorie's Mill by the Union Army in 24 January 1864. Hezekiah's dad, Absalom Rorie also died at this time as most likely did Hezekiah's baby brother, Andrew Buxton Rorie (although the circumstances of his death in 1864 are not clear). I'll gladly answer any questions I can about the Ticer family of Stone County, Arkansas. Hugh Clark and Sarah Caroline Rorie Ticer are buried side-by-side in Stevens Cemetery, aka Roasting Ear Creek Cemetery, near Fifty Six, Stone County, AR. Hezekiah and Louisa Ticer Rorie are both buried on the old Rorie farm near Fifty Six, Stone County, AR, in unmarked graves. If you find documentation for the parents of Hugh and Louisa, please let me know. I've been trying to find that for several years. Kenneth Rorie
