My g-g-grandmother, Louisa TYCER Wheeler was in Wayne Co., TN from about 1847 until the late 1870's with the possible exception of 1860 when she and her children may have been in nearby Hardin Co., TN.
Louisa, b 1822 TN was the daughter of Ellis TYCER (b 1755 Northumberhland, VA) and Rachel STANSBURY. Ellis TYCER and his wife had 8 children. Two sons and two daughters have been found with the possiblity of another daughter on the horizon.
Another TYCER shows up in the 1850 Hardin Co. , TN Census: Mary TYCER age 57 b SC; and children Polly M, age 19 b AL; William, age 16, farming, b AL; Monerva S. (or L.) age 3 b TN. I suspect Mary may be a widow of one of the older, "unknown" sons of Ellis TYCER.
The area where my WHEELER family lived in Wayne Co., TN (Dist. 2 & 5) is very close to the Hardin Co., TN line. It appears my g-g-grandfather, Thomas M. WHEELER, died about 1857 because in Dec. 1857 a guardian was appointed for his oldest son (age 8). This guardian was Clayton THARP. Don't know if he was related to my family.
It is suspicioned that an older TYCER sister, Martha, married a John Nesbitt and that family moved to Hardin Co., TN where a son, James Elliott Nesbitt married 1) Zilphea Peacock and then a relative of Zilphea's, 2) Catherine Wade. They moved to the Arkansas Ozarks by 1850.
Having family in the area may be why my WHEELER family moved from Dickson Co. to Wayne Co. I have been told that the name TICER/TYCER is interchangeable.
