Seems I read that there was a prominent soldier in the Civil War with the name of Tilghman. Can't remember right now if it was a first name or a surname though. Many folks about that time were named after men who won or fought great battles during the war or who were from the same general location of the person named after them. My gr-gr grandfather's middle name was Tilghman. He lived in Northampton Co., PA. Joseph T. B. Schlegel. The "T" was for Tilghman.
