I checked through my copy of THE TILGHMAN/TILLMAN FAMILY REGISTER 1225-1945 and only came up with a few Ward's in the index. WARD, Alice 2625 WARD, Carolyn 517 WARD, Cynthia 2836 WARD, Dorothy 330.5 WARD, Mary 3331 WARD, Matthew 27 WARD, Thomas 1865.3 WARD, Willard 1896 In reference to the use of the Tillman name as a first name, it seems to be a not so uncommon occurrence amongst some of the family members, especially for a daughter who marries out of the family name to name a child in such a way, or even further down the line. Your assumption that there may be some connection to Tillman may have some basis further down the line, even though I couldn't see any in the book readily. From what I understand, the Tilghmans have used assorted spellings (Tilman, Tillman, Tilghman) throughout time. Notify Administrator about this message?
