I've never done any research on this family, but a book I have on Maryland history lists the following surveys:

"John's Delight" - Talbot County, 200 acres, September 3, 1674, for John Tench.

A Thomas Tench was living in Annapolis in 1696.

"Brown's Discovery" - Baltimore County, 500 acres, February 24, 1701, for Thomas Tench, Esq."

A Thomas Tench was a Deputy Governor of Maryland in 1702.
